Wednesday, December 18th

12:03am: Haley Kleinsekel reported a Stray Dog near Harrison and Maple Streets. The officer was busy with an OWI Stop and did not respond.

3:44am: The GC Jailer requested assistance from an officer in bringing inmates from a transport van into the LEC to use the restroom facilities.

4:24am: While on patrol, an officer ran a computerized search of a Registration Plate on vehicle parked at 606 Hwy. 30 East. The plate did not belong on the vehicle. The officer went inside to try and make contact with the driver of the vehicle. A female attempted to run from the property, but stopped after a short foot chase. The officer ran the vehicle by the VIN Number and learned it had been reported as a Stolen Motor Vehicle by DSM PD. The officer located a glass smoking device on the ground outside of the business. The female advised it belonged to her and she had thrown it after seeing him in the area. The officer arrested Yasday Maria Kaye Blanch Sorter, 28 of Des Moines for, “Theft 1st Degree – C Felony, Possession of Controlled Substance/Marijuana 2nd Offense – Serious, Driving While Barred – Aggravated, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple.”

9:30am: Nancy Bishop requested an officer perform a Safety Check on her rental property at 300 East Washington Street after the tenants had recently moved out. The officer walked through the property with the owner and found nothing suspicious inside.

5:33pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1500 Block of 235th Street resulted in Spencer Kirk of Grand Junction being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

3:46pm: A Traffic Stop in the 200 Block of North Chestnut Street resulted in Michael Lee Eastman of Jefferson being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”

3:59pm: Alexis Jordan requested an officer at 104 East Monroe Street for a Civil Child Custody Issue occurring there.

5:15pm: During a Traffic Stop with a vehicle with Dark Windows in the 100 Block of West Washington Street, the officer detected the strong odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a Probable Cause Search of the vehicle, the officer located suspected marijuana in the vehicle and on the driver’s person. The items were confiscated for lab testing with charges pending results.

7:26pm: Lisa Garnett advised of a female walking with a small child on North Cedar Street and requested an officer to check on the subjects, due to cold weather. The officer was unable to locate the subjects.
