A single vehicle wreck causes a power outage in Ralston.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy, Ralston Fire Department, Greene County Secondary Roads Department and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at 4:07pm Tuesday at A Avenue, near 215th Street. Thirty-seven-year-old Joshua Hill of Cherokee was traveling south on A Avenue while driving a tractor that was pulling a manure spreader. The Sheriff’s Office report shows Hill was going too fast over the railroad tracks and entered the ditch and struck a power pole.
The crash caused power lines to come down and resulted in a power outage for the town of Ralston. Alliant Energy Spokesperson Mike Wagler says power was restored within six hours. The outage affected 52 customers. Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio Hill was uninjured from the crash and the tractor and tank sustained $10,000 in damages. Williams adds there will be an additional cost to Hill for damages done to the power pole. Hill was cited for failure to maintain control.
