Paton-Churdan swept a girl/boy high school basketball non-conference doubleheader Monday night in Churdan over West Central Valley. The girls’ final was 44-34 while the boys’ game score was 77-46. Both contests were broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.rvaccoonvalleyradio.com.
The P-C girls were led by 6′ 2″ junior Danielle Hoyle’s 25 points. P-C was 17 of 40 from the field with 17 turnovers. WCV made just 11 of 51 shot attempts and six of 18 from the foul line, Madelyn Jaeger scoring 10 points. P-C improved to 3-2 wile WCV fell to 4-3 with a third straight loss.
The P-C boys had great balance in scoring led by sophomore Bradyn Smith with 21 points. Connor Brus had 18 points with 15 by Joe Carey and a dozen for Kaleb Fisher. The Rockets had lost the previous two games, but a season high in points helped them to a 3-2 record. WCV was led in scoring by reserve Ismael Leyva with 13 points. The Wildcats have lost six games in a row to drop to 1-6. The Rockets led 24-23 in the second quarter, but expanded that to 42-30 at the half and the lead kept growing as the game went on.
The Rockets take their longest road trip of the season tonight then they go to Mondamin to play West Harrison. The girls play at 5 p.m. with the boys to follow.
