Iowa’s farmland values saw an overall increase this year.
According to the Iowa State University Farmland Value Survey, Iowa’s overall average farmland value is $7,432, which is a 2.3-percent increase compared to 2018. Locally, Dallas County had the largest boost of 4.7-percent in land values to $7,928 per acre. Greene County’s farmland value jumped four-percent to $8,008. Guthrie County had a surge of 3.7-percent to $6,996 per acre.
The factors from the survey respondents that led to the rise include lower interest rates, limited land supply, strong yields, and to some extent the trade aid payments to farmers. However, respondents also believe they still face problems with low commodity prices and trade uncertainty.
