Panorama made quick work of WCAC foe Madrid Friday night.

Both basketball teams made the trip to Madrid Friday for a double header. The girl’s team got the night started and jumped out to a quick 17-4 lead after the first quarter. The Tigers were unable to cut the deficit and Panorama won the game 54-31. Payton Beckman led the way offensively with 22 points. Angel Poldberg also had a breakout game with 11 points and 10 rebounds. After an 0-2 start on the season, Panorama improves to 3-2 after three consecutive wins.

The boys took the court to try and finish off the sweep against the defending WCAC champs. They followed in the girl’s footsteps and flexed their defensive muscles early on and took a 33-24 lead into the halftime break. Madrid showed some life in the third-quarter, but Panorama was ultimately able to keep them at bay and took home a 77-68 victory. The Panthers had three players in double-figures including Malachi Peasley and Kolby Shackelford who had 17, and Zach Rizzuti with 11. Panorama remains unbeaten and jump to a 4-0 record, their best start since the 2007-08 season when the Panthers pounced to a 9-0 start en route to a 16-7 season.

Both teams will be back in action Tuesday when Van Meter comes to town.
