We’ve entered the last week of the Raccoon Valley Radio Caring Christmas Food Drive for the year, and there’s several live on-location broadcasts up ahead.
The Big Red Radio and Little Big Red Radio will be at an assortment of locations around the listening area through Thursday, as we collect donations to fill the local food pantries. There are three stops today, including from 9-11 a.m. at Paton-Churdan School in Churdan, from 1-3 p.m. at Greene County High School in Jefferson, and from 3-5 p.m. at Hometown Foods in Stuart. There will be two more tomorrow, both from 3-5 p.m., with one at the Fareway in Perry and the other at Hometown Foods in Guthrie Center. There will be one stop on Wednesday, from 4-6 p.m. at the Perry Hy-Vee. Finally, on Thursday, we well be at the Jefferson Hy-Vee from 3-5 p.m. and the Perry Fareway from 4-6.
Raccoon Valley Radio General Manager John McGee encourages the public to show up to the live broadcasts and help out. “The key is: is listeners out there, come on out and be a part of it. It’s really a neat opportunity to give back at the holiday season. I appreciate our staff and all the hard work they put in, the extra countless hours of running around to do things. So it’s kind of a neat way that we’re all giving to make this happen.”
McGee also reminds people that donating to the food drive will also enter you into the $1,000 cash giveaway, for which the winner will be drawn this week.
