The Greene County High School Music Department is hosting their annual Dessert Concert Monday.
The public is encouraged to come to the concert at the middle school gym in Jefferson, starting at 7:30pm. The program will begin with the concert band, as they perform “Marches of the Armed Forces,” “Joy to the World,” and “Russian Christmas Music.” Director Wes Anderson says Kaitlin Tjostem and Mitchell Stevens will be the featured soloists on English horn and French horn, respectively.
The concert band will be followed by the jazz and concert choirs. The jazz band will then play four selections, including “Jingle Bell Rock,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Let it Snow,” and “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen.” To wrap up the event, the concert choir will invite any choral alumni to sing in the Hallelujah Chorus.
Tickets for the concert are $5 and will be available at the door. The cover charge includes a free dessert. Additionally, there will be a silent auction with proceeds going toward completion of a restoration project of a grand piano.
