Camping is likely not something that would occur to most people as a fun wintertime activity, but Dallas County ISU Extension and Outreach is out to change that.
Registration is currently open for Extension’s “Winter Camp,” and kids in 3rd through 6th grade are invited to join in the festivities. The program will include activities such as: “Kids in the Kitchen”; arts and crafts; science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); and team building. It will be held Monday, December 30th at the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel, though the last day to register is Friday, December 20th. The cost to participate is $25 for 4-H members, or $35 for non-members. However, the non-members will receive a free 4-H membership when they complete the online registration.
Extension feels the Winter Camp is a good way to help kids stay active, particularly during their winter break when physical and mental activity tends to decline.
