Playing at Gilbert hasn’t been kind to the Greene County boys’ basketball teams over the years. Tonight marks the final time the Rams play in Gilbert as Heart of Iowa Activities Conference members and Coach Chris Nelson’s team could make it a memorable last visit with an upset of the Tigers (2-0, 1-0). The Rams (1-2, 0-1) are looking for consistency after a roller coaster first week of the season. A win against Perry was sandwiched between losses to Ogden and South Hamilton (Jewell).
The Rams shot around 25% from the floor in the two losses and overall are making just under 33% of field goal tries. Three-point shooting is less than 20% at 19.6. Free throwing shooting is a respectable 66.7% as a team.
The Gilbert boys are averaging 73 points in their first two games and they are shooting 46.6% from the field, but only 23.3% on three-pointers. The Tigers are a 56% free throw shooting team.
Tonight’s girl/boy doubleheader can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 5:45 p.m. The girls play at 6 o’clock and the boys follow.
