DOT plow on Highway 4 in Jefferson
Fast-moving winter weather has impacted travel in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area Monday morning.
According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, tow services are not recommended at this time. According to the Iowa Department of Transportation, the state highway conditions are mostly normal for Dallas and Guthrie counties. The northernmost state roads in Guthrie County and all of the state roads in Greene County are partially covered with snow. The National Weather Service anticipates winds gusting as high as 25-miles-per-hour through 5pm tonight, which may cause low visibility when traveling.
Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan says the City’s snow ordinance is in effect and plow crews are out clearing the roads. If motorists encounter a plow, make sure to give them plenty of room to clear the road. The one to count on for winter weather coverage is the Raccoon Valley Radio Network.
