An organization serving those with disabilities has a new name in downtown Guthrie Center, but its mission still rings true.
Genesis Development, which served several counties including Guthrie, was acquired by Imagine the Possibilities after the 46-year-old organization ran into budget shortfalls earlier this fall. Imagine the Possibilities officially began serving Guthrie County on October 27th, and Chief Administrative Officer Jeff Morris says the transition was practically seamless. He says the first three weeks involved countless informational and on-boarding meetings for staff and clients, “I was part of that traveling team for those three weeks that was in kind of all of the areas that had been served by Genesis. And I have been so impressed and pleased by the attitude and the professional demeanor demonstrated and displayed by the folks who had been Genesis employees and are now Imagine employees. We’re just really proud and pleased to have them as part of our team.”
Morris says all of the former Genesis staff were offered positions through this transition, and the organization has no plans to move the Guthrie Center office from its location at 409 State Street. He adds there hasn’t been any significant differences in the services provided to Guthrie County. Mental health services were transferred to Zion Recovery shortly before Imagine the Possibilities acquired Genesis, for which Morris says Imagine prefers to stay in its lane and continue this partnership.
