Greene County head wrestling coach took eight Rams to Grimes on Saturday for the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustang Invitational wrestling tournament. Sophomore Nathan Black finished second at 145 lbs., dropping a 2-1 title match decision. Black was the only Greene County wrestlers to make the finals, but four others advanced to the semifinals. Freshman McKinley Robbins was third at 106 and his only loss was to Class 2A number one ranked Camron Phetxoumphone of Webster City, 7-4. Junior Brady Stauffer at 138 was third with senior Braden Gallagher at 126 and senior Will Hansen at 152 both finishing in fourth place. Sophomore Brenner Gallagher (113) seventh at 113 and senior Matt Naberhaus at 285 was eighth.
The Rams finished in a tie for ninth place among 14 teams. A pair of Class 3A programs went one-two with Ankeny Centennial placing first and DC-G second.
Next up is the first home action of the season in the middle school gym in Jefferson on Thursday, Dec. 12 vs. ADM (Adel) and Gilbert.
