It’s been nearly two months since the shooting incident in Stuart left three Guthrie County Sheriff’s deputies and one Stuart Police Officer injured, but Sheriff Marty Arganbright says the office still has a ways to go before returning to normal.

Deputies Steven Henry and Jim Mink have not yet been medically cleared to return to work after suffering gunshot wounds, and deputy Kent Gries has been on administrative duty since suffering powder burns to his eye and face. For an office of nine full-time deputies, Arganbright comments on the staff shortage, “We’ve done the best we can with people stepping up and working more hours, and you know we’ve had some part-time assistance and other departments have helped us out. So we’ve managed but it’ll be good to get back to normal.”

Arganbright adds that he and Gries have yet to determine when Gries will be ready to perform all his regular duties, and he’s not sure when Henry and Mink will be able to return to work. Arganbright thanks the community for their support following the October 17th incident.
