It will be a busy weekend for the Greene County 4-H program.
Greene County Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Kayla Willms says four intermediate 4-H’ers are competing at Glidden-Ralston Schools tomorrow in Lego League from 9am-noon. The 4-H’ers have to build and operate a robot and do a project, and Willms describes what their project is.
“This year’s project, they had to take an abandoned building or a building that’s no longer going to be used and then design and reconstruct it to be a usable place for anybody in the community that they live in. They decided to do the middle school (in Jefferson) to see what opportunities might be available, after the school closes, after the new school is built.”
The students who are competing include: Gavin VanderLinden, Lucy VanderLinden, Aden Bardole and Nehemiah Hoyt. The public is invited to attend the event.
Then on Sunday is the 4-H Beef Weigh-In for the 2020 Greene County Fair. Willms says the weigh-ins will take place from 1-2:30pm and retinal imaging will be from 2:30-4pm at the pen-of-three building on the county fairgrounds in Jefferson. Anyone with questions can contact Willms at the Extension Office.
