The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The meeting began with approval of payroll change notices, which included creating positions in the Secondary Roads Department and Sheriff’s Office. Roads is seeking an engineering technician to essentially replace retiring Assistant to the County Engineer Bryan DeJong, and the Sheriff will hire a new deputy to exclusively work at the courthouse. The only other action item during the meeting was approval of the 22nd pay application for the law enforcement center project. The payment was for $960,165.33 to nine different contractors.
The Board was also updated on the progress of the project by Jerry Purdy from the Farnsworth Group and Sid Samuels from the Samuels Group. They said the exterior work on the facility is nearly wrapped up, as are the first two sections. However, the jail portion is still a work in progress and will keep the center from opening until likely early-to-mid March.
