During tonight’s Perry Holiday Extravaganza, the only thing that will cost you any money is if you want to get some holiday decor that will also help a good cause.

The Xi Pi Women’s Service Sorority of Perry will be selling a variety of live wreaths and swags in the gallery of La Poste. Sorority member Bethany Wicks promises the greenery will live through Christmas, and is a great way to spruce up your holiday decorations. She explains how the funds they collect will be used. “The money that we earn and raise from selling these wreaths and swags goes to the sorority, and then we turn around at the end of our year and give back to organizations in the community. It’s a good opportunity to give back to the organizations in our town through this sorority and the fundraiser that we’re doing.”

Some of the past beneficiaries of Xi Pi fundraisers have included the Friends of the Perry Public Library, Perry’s Academic, Cultural, and Enrichment Services (PACES) program, and even some individual families experiencing hardships. The Holiday Celebration will start following the Lighted Holiday Parade, and will run until around 9:30 p.m. To learn more about the Xi Pi fundraiser and the celebration, click the link below to listen to the Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program with Wicks and event organizer Jenny Eklund.
