Residents can burn off the Thanksgiving calories while enjoying a local recreation area this weekend.
Springbrook State Park in Guthrie County is hosting an “Opt Outside Hike” from 1-3 p.m. Friday. Iowa Department of Natural Resources Training Specialist Anne Riordan encourages the public to start a new holiday tradition by enjoying the outdoors at this free event, “So that gives people options, I know that sometimes is a big frenzied shopping day which can become kind of stressful. So there’s no reason you couldn’t do both, you could do your shopping and you could do the ‘Opt Outside,’ or just totally opt outside. Come out in nature and hike and relax and recharge, and avoid all the stress altogether.”
Riordan reminds attendees to dress for the weather, and the group will meet at the campground gazebo. For more information contact Riordan at 641-295-6028.
