The state representative for Greene and Boone counties was recently appointed to a new leadership position.

District 47 Representative Phil Thompson of Jefferson was appointed by House Speaker Pat Grassley as the vice-chair of the state government committee. Thompson served his first year on the committee, which helped pass legislation legalizing sports betting in Iowa this past legislative session.

Thompson also serves on the labor, local government, veterans affairs committees, and as vice-chair on the budget sub-committee for Rebuild Iowa Infrastructure Fund (RIIF). Thompson is going into his second year as a state representative when the 2020 legislative session begins on January 13th.
