The co-superintendent structure being used by the West Central Valley School District was discussed during a recent Board work session.

The Board discussed how the first 50 days have gone for principals Rusty Shockley and Anthony Lohse sharing superintendent duties, following Lance Ridgely’s leave of absence and resignation on October 3rd. Board member Nyle Godwin asked the principals whether the district atmosphere is better, to which they said yes, and Dexter Elementary Principal Drew Stonewall emphasized how communication has improved for the administrators.

Lohse said it was an overall awkward start to the year with personnel changes and the elementary restructuring, but he complimented Stonewall and Stuart Elementary Principal Cory Wenthe for getting their two buildings running, calling it “tremendous.”

The Board also discussed how to handle situations in the future when multiple administrators are outside of the District, and to have trust with the administration during those situations. They also discussed how they themselves can improve, such as having members chair particular committees with staff and administration to get more involved with the district.
