The start of the 2019-20 high school basketball season for the Greene County Rams is just one week away. The season for the Rams will have three girl/boy doubleheaders next week. It starts on Dec. 2 with a short trip east to Ogden. The home opener for both Greene County teams is Tuesday, Dec. 3 vs. Perry.
Greene County played Iowa Hall of Pride Scrimmages on Nov. 23 at Kuemper Catholic High School in Carroll as a tuneup for the new season. The scrimmages were played under game conditions, but do not count on the season records. The Knights won both contests.
Chris Nelson is the Greene County boys’ head coach. He told Raccoon Valley Radio the score vs. Kuemper was 63-52. The coach reports senior Carter Morton scored 23 points and junior Zach Goff added 12. The Rams were just 12 of 23 from the free throw line. Coach Nelson said his team started slowly, but played hard and was within single digits down the stretch before coming up 11 points short.
Ram basketball will be broadcast this season on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com starting with the twin bill Dec. 2 at Ogden.
