There’s still a lot of leaves and brush on the ground throughout Perry, so as a reminder, your opportunity to take advantage of the City’s open burning dates is almost gone.

Today and tomorrow are the last two days Perry residents can burn yard waste within City limits for the year. After that, citizens will still have two opportunities to take advantage of the City’s free yard waste pickup service: Wednesday, December 4th for those south of Willis Avenue, and Wednesday, December 11th for those on the north side. For those who will be burning through Sunday, here’s a reminder of the rules: all burning must take place between 10 a.m. and sundown; it’s restricted to private property in the rear of the property; it must be supervised at all times; burn piles must be at least 30 feet away from any neighboring buildings; and there is no burning allowed on City streets, alleys, or other right-of-ways.

The City also emphasizes that people should not delay calling the Fire Department at the first sign that their fire is getting out of control.
