It was hard to tell who was customer and who was an attendee for an event Friday evening, as the Bluejay Market in Perry was packed for their ribbon-cutting celebration.

The Perry Chamber of Commerce hosted the event to officially welcome their newest members into the fold. Owners Deep and Shelley Nayyar, who bought the convenience store in 2017, also wanted to show off their new “beer cage,” a walk-in cooler that is the first of its kind in Perry. Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti got the event started by welcoming everyone, and then introduced the owners. Deep and Shelley then talked about the history of the business and what they have to offer, and shared their excitement for being a part of the growing Perry community. The crowd then braved the cold and went outside to cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Attendees were also treated to free tacos from a local taco truck, and samples of drinks that can be found at the store.
