The Dallas County Hospital Foundation has brought back their winter holiday gift basket silent auction for a third year, and the community is invited to support a good cause by placing their bids.

DCH Foundation and Marketing Manager Macinzie McFarland says the promotion is one of their biggest fundraisers of the year, with all the proceeds going towards an assortment of things, such as the yearly scholarships and community education programs. She says each of the offerings was put together by hospital staff or Foundation Board members, and there’s a friendly competition among them for who’s basket will sell for the most. McFarland describes the wide variety of items people can bid on. “So we have 10 baskets total, they range in price. So one of the baskets is a cool, red Christmas truck with all Christmas decorations. One is literally Santa’s pants – I think it’s a flower pot or something like that – but there’s one like that. There’s a movie bucket, there’s one for dogs that’s super cute. So I mean they really range in all the looks, and so it’s kind of fun to see how they come up with them creatively too.”

The baskets will be on display in the hospital atrium from now until December 3rd. The items will then move to the Perry Public Library until December 12th. Finally, everything will head back to the hospital, and the last day for bidding is December 17th.
