A new holiday event is happening soon in Jefferson.
Greene County Chamber and Tourism is hosting a “Winter Festival: Celebration of Trees” event and they are asking for the public to get involved. The two-day event will be from December 7th and 8th at the former hardware store at the intersection of Chestnut and East State streets. Chamber Board Secretary Jill Morton requests decorated trees to be brought to the event and the trees can be donated to a silent auction, with all proceeds to go to the Toys for Greene County program with New Opportunities. Morton describes what the new event will be like.
“It’s going to be really fun. The atmosphere is going to be pretty. It’s going to be real fun for the kids. There’s children’s activities, there’s going to be photos, there’s going to be horse-drawn carriage rides around the square, music, treats, prizes, Santa’s going to be there.”
Morton adds there’s no charge for anyone to bring a decorated tree and there will be a free-will donation accepted at the door for attendees. For more information, contact the Chamber Office at 515-386-2155.
