The Guthrie Center School Board held three meetings Monday evening.

The first meeting consisted of approval of previous meeting minutes, financial reports, and open enrollment. The Board then held an organizational meeting to swear in the elected incumbent Board members Tim Benson and Wanda Knobbe, and new member Wilma Stetzel. They then appointed Wes Policky as president and Benson as vice president, and Business Manager Joni Rees as Board Secretary/Treasurer. They also appointed Rick Engel as School Attorney, The News Gazette as the newspaper of record, Guthrie County State Bank and Peoples Bank as depositories, and a resolution authorizing Superintendent Dennis McClain as check signer.

Finally, they held another regular meeting in which they adopted a new assistance animals policy upon its second reading, and approved continuing to pursue a shared psychologist/social worker agreement. They also approved weight room project contracts with FRK Architects + Engineers, Bishop Engineering for a site survey proposal, and Allender Butzke Engineers, Inc. for soil borings. They also approved transfers of unused funds, and setting the time and date of their next meeting for December 16th at 8 p.m. Superintendent Dennis McClain also informed the Board that for the District’s certified enrollment, their actual enrollment is up five, while students served is down eight.
