A number of Greene County High School football coaches and players were on hand Saturday afternoon inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls for the Class 2A playoff semifinals. They were there as fans because Greene County’s season ended on Nov. 8 with a Class 2A playoff quarterfinal loss at Algona.

The coaches and players were there watching the two teams that hung losses on the Rams this season in Algona and OABCIG. The Bulldogs and Falcons met in the 4 p.m. semifinal on Saturday with the Falcons winning 41-32 to advance to the Nov. 22 title contest set for 1 p.m. vs. Waukon, a 32-14 winner over Williamsburg.

Junior standout Cooper DeJean led OABCIG to a 12-0 record and the first championship game appearance in that school’s history. He did to Algona what he did to Greene County and every other opponent so far this season.

OABCIG won Class 2A District 9 and Greene County was second. The All-District teams will be announced after Nov. 22.
