A Des Moines woman recently received a deferred judgment for an alleged burglary incident in Adair County.
Court records show that 37-year-old Shannon Kay Keeney pleaded guilty to charges of second degree theft and third degree burglary, both class D felonies. The court dismissed the theft charge on October 18th and gave a deferred judgment for the burglary charge. Keeney is to be placed on two years probation, and pay a civil penalty of $750. If she successfully completes her probation period, the charge will be dismissed and the case record will be expunged.
The case stemmed from an August 24th incident in which Keeney was located with another suspect, 47-year-old Matthew Em Jones of Indianola, by the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Stuart Police Department, and other agencies at Kuster Salvage & Recycling in Greenfield. Keeney was allegedly found with a registration receipt from a vehicle on the property. Other contents of the vehicle were removed and scattered on the passenger seat. Jones also had a backpack containing several burglary tools, a syringe, and methamphetamine. Jones’ case remains ongoing. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
