A Jefferson man has been given a suspended sentence in Guthrie County for a drug conviction.
Court documents show 28-year-old Shawn J. Gifford pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine – second offense, possession of marijuana – second offense, and keeping a premises for use of controlled substances, all aggravated misdemeanors; and gathering where marijuana is used, a serious misdemeanor. Gifford was sentenced to up to eight years in prison, which was then suspended for him to serve two years probation each for the first two offenses, to be served consecutively. He’s also to serve one year probation for each of the other two offenses, to be served concurrently. Gifford is ordered to pay $2,500 in fines, plus a 35% statutory surcharge, and court costs.
One count of gathering where controlled substances are used and three counts of child endangerment were dismissed. This conviction stems from an August 1st incident when the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of North Street in Bayard. Gifford was at the residence during the time of the search and was arrested with two other men after marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia were found.
