Friday, November 8th

1:18am: An officer checked on a male sleeping in a vehicle at 222 East Lincoln Way Street. The male was sleeping before his work shift and was okay.

6:45am: Officers were assisted by the Sheriff’s Office and the Greene County Ambulance with a personal injury accident at 220th and Grimmell Road. A 1995 Chevrolet Camaro, owned and operated by Keaton Hetland of Jewell, was travelling west on 220 th Street. Hetland stopped at the intersection of Grimmell Road to wait for oncoming traffic before making a left turn onto Grimmell Road. A 2014 Ford Taurus, owned and operated by Spencer Kirk of Grand Junction, struck the rear of the stopped Hetland vehicle. Both vehicles were a total loss and towed from the scene. Both drivers were checked by the GC Ambulance for minor injuries, but both refused transport to ER. Kirk was issued a Citation for, “Fail to Stop in Assured Clear Distance Ahead.”

8:53am: A Greene County Schools Bus Driver turned in a School Bus Violation Form to the law enforcement center. A vehicle had passed the stopped school bus near Vine and Madison Streets, after the lights and stop arm were activated. The officer’s investigation led to Amanda Eritt of Jefferson being cited for, “Unlawful Passing of School Bus.”

11:12am: Officers performed a Funeral Escort.

1:06pm: Moe’s Mart reported a vehicle backed into a trash can before leaving 303 North Elm Street. The trash can received damage, estimated at $80.00. The officer reviewed video of the event and determined the drier to be Lisa Owens of Scranton. Owens reported she was involved, but did not think she had caused any damage. She later noticed damage to the rear bumper of her 2013 Ford F150. The damage was estimated at $200.00 for the truck. The accident occurred on private property, so no citation was issued.

1:54pm: Officers were requested near Grimmell and Russell Streets for a vehicle that struck a deer. The 2005 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 was owned and operated by Gene Haman of Jefferson. The vehicle suffered a reported $100.00 in damage to the right front. Haman was given a Salvage Tag to take the deer.

2:00pm: John Peters reported large amounts of mud and debris on the roadway in the 200 Block of Briarwood Bend, due to local construction. The officer spoke to the job site foreman to find solutions to the issue.

3:23pm: Officers escorted the GC Football players out of town for the Algona game.

3:57pm: An officer assisted the Juvenile Court Officer in gathering a Urine Analysis Collection Kit from a juvenile at the Court House.

4:00pm: Ronnie Baugh spoke with an officer about a GC Elementary Staff Member being inappropriate towards his juvenile daughter. The officer is investigating the event.

Saturday, November 9th

10:13am: A Traffic Stop near Lincoln Way and Elm Streets resulted in Jill Klemish of Exira being cited for, “Fail to Obey Stop Sign.”

3:27pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1600 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Craig Chitty of Audubon being cited for, “Operation without Registration.”

3:54pm: A Traffic Stop at Lincoln Way and Wilson resulted in Mary Miller of Kalona being cited for, “Driving While Suspended.”

6:55pm: Officers arrested Thomas Alexander Oyres, 40 of Jefferson, at 409 North Maple on outstanding Jefferson PD Arrest Warrants. The warrants are for, “Possession of Controlled Substance/Meth 1st Offense – Serious and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple.” The charges stem from an investigation that started on 06/12/2019, at 108 West State Street.

Sunday, November 10th

12:09am: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Orchard Ave. resulted in Nathan Black of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

12:55am: An officer performed a Traffic Stop with a speeding vehicle near Elm and Lincoln Way Streets. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Kaleb Lee Lentz, 25 of Scranton for, “OWI 1st Offense – Serious, Open Container/Driver – Simple and Excessive Speed – Simple.”

1:20am: Mia Carman reported debris in the roadway in the 1300 Block of South Elm Street. The officer removed the debris from the roadway.

4:20am: Tina Peck reported her neighbors were arguing very loudly at 307 West Lincoln Way Street. The officer made contact with a couple, who advised they were involved in a verbal argument. The male left for the evening to let things cool off.

6:42am: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 1200 Block of Westwood Drive.

10:43am: Gailee Richter reported children playing with guns in the 100 Block of East Central Ave. The officer located the children and determined they were toy guns.

11:02am: A deputy requested assistance from a Jefferson officer in locating a missing male subject, that is possibly in Jefferson. A short time later the male was located in Des Moines.

11:46am: John Lewis reported a stray dog in his yard at 102 North Maple Street. He believed the animal belonged to a neighbor, which they denied.

12:19pm: An officer assisted the GC Ambulance with a Medical Call in the 200 Block of East Perry Street.

5:15pm: Officers responded to an Alarm Activation at 108 West Lincoln Way Street. The alarm was accidental and all was fine at the business.

Monday, November 11th

3:35am: Nancy Zollars reported a suspicious male in a vehicle parked in the 300 Block of North Pinet Street. The officer made contact with the male, who advised he was living in his vehicle. He left the area after speaking to the officer.

3:06pm: An officer assisted a driver with mechanical problems near Lincoln Way and Cedar Street.

6:42pm: Amy Baugh reported a suspicious vehicle driving through the alley in the 400 Block on North Chestnut Street.

7:20pm: An officer was advised of a 911 Hang Up Call from 506 East Russell Street. A child was playing with the phone.

7:51pm: Jennifer Ashby reported the Theft of Prescription Medications from 108 East Central Ave, lot 66.
