Having a season come to an end without a championship is never fun, but a 9-2 season and a second round playoff appearance after a 1-8 season the year before is nothing to hang your head about.
Scott Heitland’s team gave it their all on Friday in a loss at Lewis Central, 12-0. The Mustangs were within just one score, until the Titans tacked on their second TD with just 1:37 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Even with the loss, there were some bright spots to point out for Dallas Center-Grimes. Zach Brand was the leading rusher for the Mustangs, with 25 carries for 100 yards rushing. Quarterback Ty Walker was 13/23 on passing for the night.
Senior, Jayme Augusma recorded 8 total tackles defensively for the Mustangs. Junior, Brody Burgher tacked on 6.5 tackles on the night, and a sack. Nic Lawton, a Junior at DC-G, also picked off Lewis Central QB Brett Kobes. DC-G also had three fumble recoveries, as Garrett Morris, Zach Needham, and Blake Willey all pounced on the ball to secure it for DC-G in the loss at Lewis Central.
