The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.

The meeting began with open forum, where Public Works Director Jack Butler discussed the new street sweeper and yard waste pick-up, Art on the Prairie Organizer Jenny Eklund talked about this weekend’s event, and Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti gave an update on upcoming events. In old business, the Council approved a voluntary annexation with Joyce VanKirk for the property containing the new animal shelter. They also approved a pay request in the amount of $51,509 from Landals Concrete for the Wiese Park improvement project, as well as the final acceptance, and certificate of completion.

In new business, the Council approved a resolution for the submission of a public works and economic assistance program grant request for upcoming street projects. That was followed by approval of a pay application in the amount of $131,646.25 from the Baker Group for mechanical work at the McCreary Community Building, and the purchase of a used courtesy car for the Perry Municipal Airport from Bob Brown Chevrolet for $10,500. Next, the Council set November 18th as the date for a public hearing on an amendment to the City’s Urban Renewal Plan, and approved a resolution accepting the fiscal year 2019 urban renewal report. Finally, they approved the sale of the vacated right-of-way on 2nd Street to Progressive Foundry, and the execution of the development agreement for the sale.
