The state cross country championships over the weekend officially concluded the fall sports season at Panorama.

On the gridiron, the Panther football team made huge strides. A year ago, they needed a week nine victory to earn a winning season. This year, nothing could stop Panorama from returning to prominence. The Panthers started the season 6-0, defeated two 2018 state qualifiers along the way. They gave Van Meter a better fight than any other team this season, but suffered their first loss 20-0. Panorama bounced back and finished on a high note winning their last two game to finish 8-1 on the season. Their stellar season earned them a date with 2018 state runner-up Dike New Hartford. Unfortunately, after an incomplete pass in the endzone on the final play of the game, Panorama’s season ended after a 21-14 defeat.

The Panorama volleyball team felt the affects of losing a lot of seniors from a year ago. The Panthers  started the season 3-3 after a few strong showings. Panorama would only win one more match in their final 19 contests. Their season concluded in a five-set thriller against West Central Valley in the first round of the playoffs.

The girls cross country team continued to be a staple among the best of Class 2A schools. Ella Waddle followed up her stellar campaign with another strong finish in Fort Dodge. As a team, due to a mix of untimely injuries and illness’, they fell just short of a team bid to state. They were well represented at the big dance as Waddle, Oliva Steffen, and Peyton Beckman qualified as individuals. Waddle led the pack finishing in fifth place overall in 19:19. Waddle also happened to be the best finishers among underclassmen in the field. Steffen was the next Panther to finish as her time of 20:50 was good enough to finish 39th. Beckman rounded out the afternoon for Panorama finishing in 21:50 which was 90th in the field of 138.
