A New Mexico woman was transported to Guthrie County Hospital after a car versus deer collision Thursday night.

According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, at about 7:23 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to the incident on Highway 44 about a half mile west of Justice Road. The deputy located a black Nissan car driven by 70-year-old Jo Ann Shroyer of Santa Fe. Shroyer was traveling east when a deer came out of the ditch and struck the driver’s side front corner. The car ended up on the south shoulder, facing east on the highway. Air bags had deployed and Shroyer complained of pain in her right leg. A nurse was at the scene before the deputy’s arrival and was talking with her. She was then transported by Panora Emergency Medical Services to the hospital. The vehicle sustained about $4,500 in damages. Guthrie Center Fire Department assisted at the scene.
