Tuesday morning, the Perry Chamber of Commerce gathered at Oasis Restaurant to officially welcome its newest member with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting.

The event started out unconventionally, with attendees encouraged to help themselves to the warm pupusas and flautas available to sample. As they ate, Oscar Ramirez, who owns both Oasis Market and Restaurant, talked about the background of both businesses. He opened the market when he moved back to Perry from Minnesota five years ago, and the restaurant came along in March of 2018. Ramirez said they’ve been working on renovating the building since then to make it more attractive and customer-friendly, and they also joined the Chamber within the last couple months. The ribbon cutting was to celebrate both the remodel and their Chamber membership.

Following his speech, Ramirez was joined by his family and the other attendees outside the restaurant, and did the honors himself of cutting the ceremonial ribbon. To hear from Ramirez, listen to Friday’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program on air and at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
