Several communities in the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area were recently honored for their efforts in water fluoridation.
The Iowa Department of Public Health announced Tuesday that 107 Iowa cities have been awarded the Water Fluoridation Quality Award from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for their achievements in 2018. The list includes Casey, Dexter, Guthrie Center, Jefferson, and Scranton. Fluoridation is the adjustment of fluoride in drinking water to a level that is effective for preventing tooth decay.
