The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The first item on the agenda was discussion on a request by an individual to photograph and write a story on the significance of the “Lady Justice” statue on top of the courthouse. The sword from the statue recently fell off, which prompted the request. The Board gave consensus for the individual to proceed with the project, and the sword will be placed back on the statue next spring. Next, the Supervisors ratified amendments to Board of Health regulations, as they related to septic contractor, maintenance provider, and system design engineer requirements.
Following that, the Board approved four vehicle purchase requests from the Sheriff’s Office, which included three 2019 Dodge Durangos and one 2019 Dodge Ram. They will come from Stew Hansen’s Dodge in Des Moines, with three of them replacing existing vehicles in the fleet and the fourth a new purchase. Finally, the Board approved an engineering consultant contract in the amount of $75,000 with AECOM, to evaluate the roads in the River Oaks subdivision near West Des Moines.
