A Jefferson man was recently sentenced for two incidents in Rippey.
According to court documents, 29-year-old Benjamin Allen pled guilty to a lesser charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for third-degree theft. He was sentenced to serve 60 days in a county jail and will be given credit for time already served. The charge stemmed from an investigation with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office that began on May 1st. Allen stole jewelry from a Rippey resident. Allen was ordered to pay over $3,000 of victim restitution and a law enforcement surcharge. He was originally charged with a Class D Felony for second-degree theft.
Additionally, Allen pled guilty to a Class C Felony for first-degree theft and a Class D Felony for forgery. He had a total of 15 years in prison suspended and will be placed on probation for two years on each of the charges. The charges stemmed from another investigation by the Sheriff’s Office that began on June 12th. Allen forged over $10,000 in checks from another Rippey resident. Allen was ordered to pay over $10,000 in victim restitution and a law enforcement surcharge. All other charges from the incident were dismissed.
