A short-lived fire caused minimal damage to a Jefferson business Monday morning.
Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams told Raccoon Valley Radio, the Jefferson Fire and Police Departments and Greene County Ambulance responded to the fire call at American Athletic Incorporated at 5:52am. Williams said fire crews turned off power to the factory area, where the fire originated. He pointed out, once the power was shut off, the fire was self-contained and put itself out. The cause was believed to be electrical-related, starting from a conduit in the factory area of the building.
Williams added, no employees were in the building during the incident and no one was hurt. Crews were on scene for about 20 minutes.
