Three Greene County High School students were selected for next month’s Iowa High School Music Association All-State Festival.

Choir Director David Heupel tells Raccoon Valley Radio seniors Jacob Hanson and Kaitlin Tjostem qualified for all-state. Hanson made it as a tenor and Tjostem as a soprano. Huepel adds that two additional students were recalled but didn’t qualify for all-state, with Kirsten Lamoureux and Clay Peters. Heupel says Tjostem’s maturity came through her voice the two weeks leading up to the auditions, and he is proud of Hanson having made it for a third year.

Band Director Wes Anderson says senior Mitchell Stevens qualified for all-state on french horn. He notes that Stevens was selected as an alternate last year. Anderson points out Stevens is an inspirational leader and saw his confidence continued to grow each year after his first attempt to qualify for all-state two years ago as a sophomore.

The All-State Festival will take place at Hilton Coliseum in Ames November 21st-23rd.
