Crowd toward the end of the breakfast fundraiser

An annual fundraiser with lots of food and a silent auction for a good cause is happening this Saturday.

The Jefferson Kiwanis Club is hosting a Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction event Saturday from 6-11am at the Jefferson Elks Lodge. The meal will consist of all-you-can-eat pancakes with warm fruit toppings and syrup, along with scrambled eggs, sausage links, beverages and biscuits and gravy. Tickets are $7 for adults, those ten and under are $2. Organizer Sherry Palmer says there will be about 30 silent auction items for people to bid on as well. Some of the highlighted items include a week’s stay at Table Rock Lake in Branson, Missouri; a dinner for eight at the top of the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower; and tickets to the University of Iowa football game against the University of Illinois.

All of the proceeds will go back to the local Kiwanis. Palmer describes some of the causes they’ve helped with in the past.

“So this past year we were pleased to be able to support many different projects and programs. Among those were the Ram Reader Program, the Jefferson Library Youth Program, the Churdan Children’s Library, Adopt-A-Family, (and) some college scholarships for some of our highschoolers. (Additionally) we did some major repairs on the Don Johnson Memorial Building on the Little League fields.”

Palmer adds there’s more projects they’ve helped with and they keep in mind those projects that will benefit the children and youth of Greene County.
