The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) Board recently approved tax credits for three companies around Iowa, one of which is located in Adel.
Iowa Spring Manufacturing and Sales Company has been in operation since 1979, and they’re planning to expand in the next year. To help that project come to fruition, the IEDA awarded a tax credit through their High Quality Jobs program. The expansion includes a 12,000-square-foot addition to their existing facility, which will enable the company to modernize its garage door torsion production. They currently utilize a “batch” system, and the new facility will move to an “in-line” system. The former process involves producing products in groups, while the latter has a continuous stream allowing for fewer work stoppages.
While the project isn’t expected to yield any additional jobs in the state, it is expected to generate $3.1 million in new capital investment, which was enough to convince the IEDA Board to invest. Iowa Spring manufactures round wire, coiled steel springs, which are used for agricultural, garage door, material handling, and railcar purposes around the country.
