The Guthrie Center School Board met in regular session Monday.
The meeting began with the Board tabling discussion of an elementary Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math program taking place November 8th. Next, the Board approved the first reading of an assistance animal policy, identical to a policy the Adair-Casey School District has. They also approved a revision to their early retirement policy that moves the deadline to apply for the program up a month early to January 3rd. Superintendent Dennis McClain explained this change will better allow a larger applicant pool for new hires. Finally, the Board approved selling a red Suburban by bid, which has 180,000 miles accumulated. McClain also mentioned the possibility of holding a special meeting before their next regular meeting to approve their contract with FRK Architects + Engineers for the weight room project.
