To get everyone in the Halloween spirit, several entities are coming together again in Jefferson to host Trick-or-Treat Around the Square.
The event will be Thursday from 4-8pm. Kids, two-years-old through 5th grade can enjoy a variety of Halloween-themed games and activities at the Greene County Community Center from 4-5pm. The Greene County High School Interact Club helps to put on the activities. Freshman Haley Grundon describes the games she will be helping with and what she is looking forward to the most.
“I have the ‘Pin-the-tail-on-the-cat” and we can like rotate (to different stations) so I can go to pumpkin golf, memory game or target throw. I’m probably looking forward to giving them (the kids) the candy and seeing them dressed up.”
Then from 5-6pm, kids and families alike to head to the downtown square. There, several businesses and organizations will hand out candy. Everyone can also go to the Jefferson Public Library from 5-7pm for more free candy and a skit, “Old MacDonald Had a Dragon, E-I-E-I-No!” The skit will be in the library’s basement and it is a come-and-go activity.
Finally, the Greene County School District Music Department will have a “Spook-tacular Music Concert” in the middle school gym from 7-8pm. The 6th-12th grade bands will perform Halloween-themed songs and kids can receive a bag of treats and participate in the photo-opportunities that will be available.
All activities are free and open to the public.
