The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District has been tasked once again with finding a replacement for a high-ranking administrator. Business Manager Nancy Gee announced her impending retirement, set to take effect at the beginning of the 2020 calendar year.
Superintendent Greg Dufoe says it will be difficult to replace Gee, who also served as the School Board Secretary and Treasurer, and he has nothing but positive things to say about her. “The Board did approve her retirement, and we wish her the best. She’s been here 10 years, and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner as a business manager. And I just have so much respect for her and her integrity, and how devoted she’s been to our mission. And so (we) just wish her the best.”
The task now falls on the District to find a new business manager, which Dufoe says at this time of year won’t be easy. To help make the process a little easier, the Board recently approved an agreement with Grundmeyer Leader Services (GLS). The contract is for $5,717.24, and includes GLS representatives attending all interviews with candidates. Dufoe adds, given the important role the new business manager will fill, the District was willing to spend a little extra to make sure they find the right person. “Obviously it’s a critical leadership position for us, and we want to seek out the best candidate (and) find the best fit in this role for us. So they’re going to help assist in that search.”
