The Panora Chamber of Commerce welcomed a new business to the community Friday with a ribbon cutting.

The ribbon cutting was held at Mitzie Rue’s Canine Corral, a dog boarding facility located off Highway 44 west of Panora. The journey to Mitzie Rue’s Canine Corral began in 2015 when husband and wife Ian and Anna Miller purchased the rural property on Rooster Lane. The couple previously lived in Earlham, and Anna originally hails from Denison and Ian from Adel. They’ve spent the last few years working to renovate the old farm buildings and areas on the property, and they opened for business this July.

Mitzie Rue’s is state licensed, with some clients traveling from as far as Prairie City or Ames. Anna believes this is due to the expansive rural area they have that dogs can roam in. The boarding facility is also having a “Howl-oween” themed grand opening open house today, which the public is invited to attend from 3-6 p.m. There will be a give away, snacks and beverages, kid-friendly activities and more.
