The ADM Tigers and Winterset Huskies have played in a lot of great contests throughout the years, and Friday Night was an instant classic for the Tigers after winning by a score of 12-9 in a game that had a lot of twists and turns. The Tigers had an incredible performance from their defense, holding the high flying Winterset offense well below their season average in points.
Winterset went into the locker room with a 7-0 lead, but the second half got very interesting. ADM got on the board on the final play of the third quarter with a touchdown pass from Tate Stine-Smith to Nate Conrad on 4th down to get the game to 7-6. Midway through the 4th, Gabe Heitz made a huge play intercepting the pass from Winterset QB Jaden Sweeney, which ADM converted just three plays later on a Tate Stine-Smith 6 yard touchdown run.
Late in the 4th Winterset, drove deep into ADM territory, but the Huskies were able to keep them out of the endzone on 4th down, tackling them at the 1 yard line towards the end of the game. Winterset got one more chance after forcing a safety, but ADMs defense held strong to keep the Huskies out of the end zone and were able to capture a huge victory.
The Tigers will move to 5-3 and 2-2 in district play after the victory. They will have their final regular season game of the year next week when they have senior night at Tiger Stadium as they host state power Lewis Central.
