Greene County’s one and only home cross-country meet of the season is officially cancelled. It was to have been today at Spring Lake State Park northwest of Grand Junction. The original date was Sept. 12, but too much rain prompted officials to postpone until today. Activities Director Todd Gordon sent email on Wednesday explaining the reason for cancelling the meet. “Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel the Greene County Cross County meet scheduled for October 17 2019. The water has gone down, but we have several spots that have made the running conditions unsafe and I would hate to have someone hurt, but especially with the State Qualifying just one week away.”

This marks the second year in a row the meet has been cancelled. A.D. Gordon also said Greene County will be looking for a new site for the meet in future years.

Greene County’s undefeated (7-0) and fourth ranked Class 2A football team hosts 0-7 Red Oak at Linduska Field in Jefferson Friday night. The game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage beginning at 6 p.m. and kickoff at 7 p.m. It’s the last regular season home game for the Rams and its Senior Night.
