The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

In open forum, Don Richardson, the Vice Commander for the Minburn American Legion, invited the Supervisors to the “Freedom Rock” dedication on Saturday at 10 a.m. The first action items on the agenda related to the Human Resources Department. The Board approved the payroll change notices, which included paying sick leave to the family of former Assistant County Attorney Sean Wieser who passed away recently, as well as filling his former position. The other item was a proposal for a play plan review, which the Supervisors were supportive of, though they would like HR to send out a request for proposals for the job.

At 9:30 a.m., there was a public hearing regarding a gas line easement with MidAmerican Energy on the Raccoon River Valley Trail. There were no objections, so following the hearing the Board approved the easement. They also approved the seventh pay application in the amount of $10,543.19 from Trinity Construction for the courthouse renovation project. There will be one final payment for the project for release of retainage, which will be considered next week. The Supervisors then discussed but took no action on ending the 28E agreement with the Department of Transportation for the continued operation of the driver’s license station, as well as a request for the creation of a new position in the Emergency Management Department. Finally, the Board stated they would not be signing the proposed commitment letter for the Healthcare Coalition, reasoning that they didn’t feel it was their responsibility or a necessity.
