For the second week in a row, Greene County has remained sixth in the Class 2A Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) from the Iowa High School Athletic Association. The RPI is used to determine football playoff qualifiers for the teams that do not win their district, but gain an at-large berth to the postseason. The RPI is also used to seed all 16 teams for the playoffs.

There are six teams in 2A that are 7-0. Four of those are ahead of Greene County in the RPI, as is once-beaten Columbus Catholic of Waterloo. Undefeated Des Moines Christian is one spot behind the Rams, and unbeaten OABCIG (Ida Grove) is number four in the RPI. The Rams visit the Falcons on Oct. 25 to end the regular season and it’s possible that game would be a battle of unbeatens to determine the District 9 title and automatic playoff berth.

This Friday the Rams play their last regular season home game. They’ll host 0-7 Red Oak on Senior Night at Linduska Field. Coverage begins at 6 p.m. with kickoff at 7 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
