The Perry School Board convened Monday evening in regular session.
The meeting began with Mary Hillman, Director of Perry’s Academic, Cultural, and Enrichment Services (PACES) program, inviting the Board and Superintendent to the annual Lights On After School event on October 23rd and 24th. The first action item on the agenda was approval of online enrollment and registration through PowerSchool, which will take effect in February. The Board then approved an agreement with Iowa NET High Academy for online curriculum to aid at-risk students. Next, they approved the future purchase of state t-shirts for qualified athletes and activity participants for the current school year.
Following that, the Board approved requests to the School Budget Review Committee for special education and limited English proficiency (LEP) allowable growth. Other items approved included: setting four legislative priorities for the 2020 session; the second reading for a policy amendment regarding limitations to employment references; revisions to Board policies and personnel changes; and assigning Linda Andorf as the Iowa Association of School Boards Assembly delegate.
